Connecting Directly

Use a control system to connect devices

All Crestron 3-series control systems and devices that connect to a control system can be connected directly to SyncPro's CloudOS. In this case all configuration, as well as software and firmware uploads for devices that support these features, will be managed directly from the CloudOS portal. Monitoring these devices will also be done in the CloudOS portal.

Connecting devices using a control system can be done using custom code or one of our growing list of SyncPro modules.

Having the ability to connect devices directly is a powerful feature when you need to connect a device that is not supported by XiO Cloud, such as a legacy Crestron device, a non-Ethernet device, or some other third-party device (see the "Custom Devices" section for more information).

Adding a New Crestron Device

Follow these steps to add a new device to a space in the CloudOS portal:

  1. Hover over the space where you would like to add the new device, and click the ☰ to open the space's actions menu. Alternatively, click on the space's name and select the "Devices" tab.

  2. Click "Add device."

  1. In the modal dialog, select "Crestron (Direct)" as the vendor.

  2. Select the model of the device you would like to add from the list of supported devices, and add an optional friendly name for the device.

  3. Click the "Assign Device" button.

After the device is successfully added, copy its UUID and access key from the "Info" tab. You can then use these credentials to configure the device's model in SIMPL.
